South coast-based company, Landau UK, is been selected to take part in the Red Bull Soap Box Race on 7 July at Alexandra Palace in London.<\/p>\n
From hundreds of applications just 70 were chosen for their unique wackily-wheeled soapbox to take part in the show which will air on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
Swanwick-based Landau UK put forward a proposal to bring history back to life with the \u2018soapboat\u2019, a reproduction of \u2018Foxtrot 8\u2019, a Falklands landing craft currently being restored by Landau as part of the \u2018Memorial Fleet\u2019 project at Boathouse 4 in the historic dockyard at Portsmouth Naval Base.<\/p>\n
Landau has form for its wacky renovations: the company previously made a hotdog cardboard boat which won a creativity award at Seawork International 2018.<\/p>\n
In other news, Landau UK\u2019s chief executive, Ben Metcalfe and his 7-year-old daughter are taking on a challenge at the end of July to drive from John O\u2019Groats to Lands\u2019 End in a 1955 Land Rover to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.<\/p>\n
