Dale Smythe has joined the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race as deputy race director<\/p>\n

Dale Smyth has been appointed deputy race director of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.<\/p>\n
Dale previous skippered the Dare to Lead team in the 2017-18 edition of the race and takes over from Tom Way.<\/p>\n
He has raced and instructed for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a huge passion for sailing and have dedicated my career to enabling others to experience the pure joy and freedom of offshore racing,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Clipper Race is the only event of its kind which trains amateur sailors to sail around the world and whilst I was proud enough to skipper a team in this amazing challenge, to directly assist in the success of eleven teams and hundreds of crew members taking on this test will be an unbelievably proud achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n
His role will include managing the allocation of crew to their teams, recruiting and managing the next group of race skippers, assisting the race director on the overall planning of the next race route, plus the operational delivery of the Clipper 2019-20 Race and beyond.<\/p>\n
